"VIRGINA"
American 4-4-0
Coal
fired live steam locomotive designed by L.B.S.C. of London, England and
built by my father W.A. Hagelund in 1959.

Since then she has sat proudly on our family
mantelpiece. With only light usage during the early 1960's she
is ready to entertain and thrill a new generation of live steam
enthusiasts. She is complete and totally ready to run but could use some
finishing details (trim, railings etc.) basically all the fun stuff!
She is built on a 3 ½" inch gauge at ¾" x foot:
Length of Engine: 27 inches
Length Overall: 45 inches from the cowcatcher to the end of the tender
Width: 7 inches
Height: 11 ½ inches at the smoke stack - 10 ½ inches at the cab
Drive wheels: 4-inch diameter
Weight: 45 pounds

-Virginia comes with all the original blue prints
-Coal fired boiler with a super heater element and 100 psi working
pressure
-She has had steam up approximately 25 times and as my father once said
"Virginia is slow to blow her top.. burns everything you throw in
the firebox and will keep going until there is no steam left to blow
down with!"
-The builder was a marine and stationary steam engineer and
President/Master Mechanic of the British Columbia Society of Model
Engineers: http://bcsme.org
The nice thing about this gauge is that one person
can pick up the engine and put it in the trunk for transport to the
track!
